Cistercian Route in Majorca

What is it?

The Cistercian route in Majorca is reduced to a visit to the monastery of La Real (Palma), the only monastery that formerly belonged to the Cistercian order in the Balearic Islands. However, this visit can be linked to the Catalan Cistercian Route and the European Route of the Cistercian Abbeys of the Council of Europe.

Who promotes it?

Spiritual Majorca.

What's pursuing?

To make known that, on our island, there was also a Cistercian abbey which, today, is run by the congregation of the Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts.

What is it like?

Monastery of medieval origin (1265), located on the outskirts of Palma, with a cloister, chapter house, sacristy and above all the Balearic Library.
