Fat Thursday gives way to Carnival (Carnival or Last Days), a date of celebration and revelry that gives way to Lent. The parade of floats and costumes stands out. It is customary to eat cakes with "sobrassada" and, in general, pork, since tradition imposes abstinence during the next forty days of Lent.

It ushers in Lent or Corema, a cycle of forty days of food deprivation and prayer that will end on Palm Sunday. The aim of Lent is to prepare for Holy Week and Easter. The figure of Jaia Corema stands out, who has seven legs, as many as Lent has.
